In America, rats are looked upon as vermin and are feared and detested, but the truth about rats as animals is that they are extremely intelligent, industrious, fast, and clever. Rats can squeeze through spaces smaller than a thumb width, and hidden video cameras have even caught rats opening bird cages to get at the seed. Rats survive and thrive when other creatures struggle.
In China, the rat is admired and revered for its obvious cunning, alertness, wit, flexibility, and energy. The sign of the rat starts off the Chinese zodiac, and in fact, the Chinese do in even eat rat in some parts of the country to mark that year. If you were born in the years 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, or 2008, you were born under the sign of the rat, which gives you rat-like qualities such as keen intelligence, an ability to create and attract great wealth, easy influence with people, and the ability to work hard with great quickness of thought.
