Awakening Your Anahata or Heart Chakra
The Sanskrit word ‘anahata’ literally means ‘unstruck’ and is used to refer to the heart chakra, and governs love and personal relationships, and the ability to feel universal love. Meditation, yoga, and any activity involving water such as swimming, bathing, or even walking on the shore of a large body of water will all help to awake the heart chakra. The color associated with the heart chakra is brilliant green. Surrounding yourself with this color, or including it in your dress, along with soft pink colors can also help. Few people have a fully awakened heart chakra, but meditation and prayer will help the process along. People with very open heart chakras are often able to heal others. Psychokinetic ability is also associated with a wide open heart chakra. One good meditative technique for opening the heart chakra comes from Tibetan Buddhism. Sit in a quiet place and simple observe your out breath for five or ten minutes. When you feel relaxed, breathe in whatever you perceive as negative in yourself, and on the out breath, breathe out love and warmth. You will find that this technique dispels fear, anger, and all manner of negative emotions quickly. When you are able to practice the technique on yourself, do the same meditation for specific other people, and when you can do that, practice it for universal peace and happiness. Not only will this awaken your heart chakra, it will put more love in the world and into your own personal life.
